Sargent & Lundy will host future nuclear leaders at the 2026 North American Young Generation in Nuclear Midwest Regional Conference. The two-day conference is taking place at the firm’s Chicago headquarters beginning Sept. 22 and will feature technical discussions on nuclear energy, professional development, Midwest nuclear policy and advocacy, and other activities.
Sargent & Lundy’s Liz Mattson and Henry Fidlow will discuss the state of the nuclear industry, while other presentations will cover the nuclear fuel cycle, networking and mentorship, and public engagement on nuclear science and technology.
Mattson will present her groundbreaking work supporting the commercial fusion industry, from pilot and demonstration plant design to hot cell design for fusion-machine maintenance. Fidlow will discuss power uprates to increase the licensed power output for nuclear power plants, including the different types, their status, and the pathways and challenges for domestic nuclear capacity expansion targets outlined in recent presidential executive orders.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour Argonne National Laboratory’s scientific research facilities and discuss the cutting-edge work in energy, engineering, and technology being performed there.
