Four Sargent & Lundy power generation specialists will speak at the upcoming Plant Design and Operating Committee meeting on plant operations, maintenance, environmental processes, and the challenges of large-load interconnections for data centers.
Utility leaders and engineers will gather in Tulsa, Oklahoma, June 8-11 for the 138th Plant Design and Operating Committee to discuss power plant best practices. Hosted this year by Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) and Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), the annual meeting brings together utility companies from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Sargent & Lundy’s presenters will share insights on key issues facing the industry today:
- Trishna Das will discuss generator circuit breaker specification study calculations, with a focus on how short-circuit fault levels affect those evaluations.
- Andrew Erickson will address smarter wastewater discharge and zero-liquid-discharge strategies for gas-fired plants.
- Manish Jain will examine the technical, regulatory, and operational challenges planners and owners face when integrating large loads such as data centers into the transmission grid.
- Douglas Jarard will discuss thermal performance modeling, upgrade strategies, and often-overlooked balance-of-plant impacts for maximizing combined-cycle output.
