Sargent & Lundy thought leaders are bringing their expertise to three Experience POWER 2026 conference sessions, addressing the energy sector’s evolving regulatory landscape, rising power demand, and professional development in the industry.
The conference will take place Sept. 28-30 in Washington, D.C., bringing together utilities, developers, large energy users, regulators, and technology providers to address challenges shaping the future of power, including load growth, grid reliability, permitting, interconnection, market rules, and infrastructure planning.
On Sept. 29 from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. EDT, Sargent & Lundy’s Wayshalee Patel, vice president for the firm’s environmental services, will moderate “Policy Whiplash and Power Demand: Community Engagement and Environmental Regulation in the Energy Sector.” The U.S. power sector is navigating significant policy and market changes as regulatory initiatives slow, courts place key rules on hold, and environmental standards affecting generation and transmission undergo reconsideration. At the same time, demand from data centers, electrification, and broader economic growth continues to increase. The session will explore how utilities and power producers can evaluate investments in new generation, asset retirements, and compliance planning while navigating uncertainty and maintaining meaningful engagement with communities.
Also on Sept. 29, from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. EDT, Sargent & Lundy’s DeAnna Myers, vice president of learning and organizational change, will participate as a panelist in “Building the Bench: Strategies for Powering the Next-Generation Workforce.” The session will explore a framework for achieving development and operational excellence in the workforce.
Later that afternoon, from 4-4:45 p.m. EDT, Patel will moderate “Women in Power: Leading Change from the Inside,” a panel focused on leadership, career development, and organizational resilience across the industry. Panelists – including Anne Moon, a vice president for grid projects at Sargent & Lundy – will share perspectives on building careers in energy, supporting professional advancement, and leading change, offering practical insights for professionals at every stage of their career.
