Sargent & Lundy’s Mike Sronce will take part in a panel discussion this week on strengthening the grid to accommodate more sustainable energy sources as part of the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.

Sronce, who has nearly 20 years of experience advising and overseeing engineering for both conventional and sustainable energy projects, including utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage system projects, will discuss grid modernization to support cleaner energy sources. The “Next-gen grid: Paving the way for sustainable energy” panel will feature academic and fellow business leaders from across the Middle East and North Africa to provide insights into the investments and actions necessary to ensure a smarter, more flexible grid to support current and future energy needs.

The Jan. 15 panel is part of the three-day summit’s solar and clean energy conference, which explores the clean energy transition and how nations are responding. The forum features exhibitions and conferences focused on clean energy, water, eco waste, smart cities, and climate and environmental issues. More than 30,000 people, including government leaders, project owners, developers, and other officials from over 100 countries are expected to attend the forum.

Sronce and his Abu Dhabi-based team leverage Sargent & Lundy’s more than 130 years of power and energy experience to provide a suite of services, including independent engineering, early-stage developer support and owner’s engineer services, economic and financial planning, and more to meet clients’ needs. The team recently helped support the  development of the United Arab Emirates’ first battery energy storage system independent power project and performed a due diligence assessment and evaluation for a BESS installation in Finland.
