Sargent & Lundy scored the No. 1 ranking in The News Journal’s list of Delaware Top Workplaces 2025, based on the overwhelming response of its employees in a recent survey of companies across the state.

The firm’s Wilmington office has made The News Journal’s Top Workplaces list every year since 2019. A record number of employees participated in this year’s survey and gave the company high marks for welcoming innovative ideas and having a strong direction.

Sargent & Lundy also earned a Delaware Top Workplaces specialty award for Company Direction based on employee’s feedback measuring their confidence in the firm’s direction. An overwhelming majority –  95% – of employees also said the company operates by strong values.

Top Workplace awards are based on anonymous employee surveys conducted by Energage, an independent Pennsylvania-based research company. The surveys cover 24 factors, including pay and benefits, direction, leadership, meaningfulness, and appreciation. Sargent & Lundy’s leadership continually analyzes the survey data to discover new opportunities to improve the employee experience, such as making policy changes or adding new benefits.

“Every year, we assess and study this survey data to learn how we can do things better, and this award is the culmination of that work,” said Sargent & Lundy Human Resources Vice President Meghan Wilhelm. “Being ranked No. 1 reaffirms we’re on the right track, providing an environment where all our people can thrive.”

The News Journal’s recognition follows awards earlier this year from Top Workplaces USA, Engineering.com, U.S. News & World Report, and Forbes. Sargent & Lundy won all five Top Workplaces Spring Culture Excellence Awards for the second consecutive year. The awards recognize companies that receive high marks for compensation and benefits, innovation, leadership, purpose and values, and work-life flexibility. This is on top of earning recognition last fall for employee appreciation, employee well-being, and professional development.

“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Energage CEO, Eric Rubino. “That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”

In March, the firm was named a Top Workplace for Engineers by Engineering.com, and Sargent & Lundy Chairman, President, and CEO Victor Suchodolski earned Top Workplaces USA’s inaugural Leadership Award based on the support of nearly 90% of employees who said they have confidence in the company’s leadership.

Last month, U.S. News & World Report named Sargent & Lundy to its overall list of Best Companies to Work For and its industry-specific awards as one of the Best Companies to Work For: Engineering and Construction, for the second consecutive year. In February, Forbes named the firm one of America’s Best Midsize Employers for 2025.

In addition, Sargent & Lundy earned the prestigious Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health in May, placing it on an exclusive list of businesses and organizations that have proven their commitment to employee well-being and workplace wellness.

The firm is currently hiring in Wilmington, throughout the U.S., and internationally. Opportunities for engineers, designers, project managers, and professional support staff can be found at sargentlundy.com/careers.
