Sargent & Lundy’s Joshua Best and Stanislav Pecko, Ph.D., of Slovenské elektrárne will present their paper “Feasibility Study for Deployment of Future SMRs” at the International Atomic Energy Agency International Conference on Small Modular Reactors and their Applications, to be held Oct. 21-25 in Vienna. This conference provides an international forum for the discussion and exploration of safe and secure SMR deployment to further the global clean energy transition.

Best and Pecko’s presentation will delve into best practices for conducting a feasibility study for SMR deployment per IAEA standards. This presentation explores the collaborative work being performed by Sargent & Lundy and Slovenské elektrárne in support of Slovakia’s transition from coal combustion to the deployment of civilian nuclear reactors, including SMRs and other advanced reactor designs, in a manner that prioritizes nuclear safety, non-proliferation, security of energy supply, and sound financial considerations from the outset. See Slovenské elektrárne’s announcement here.

This presentation will be part of the conference’s Topical Group D: Consideration to Facilitate Deployment of SMRs: Track 14: Nuclear Infrastructure and Enabling Environment for SMRs.
