Read all about it! Sargent & Lundy’s upcoming headquarters move to 77 W. Wacker Drive was highlighted in a front-page story in the April 21 edition of the Chicago Tribune.
The firm was mentioned in a commercial real estate article on the health of Chicago’s office space market and the amenities being offered to secure tenants. Executive Vice President Michael Helminski was interviewed for the story and pointed out the firm’s due diligence in conducting a search to accommodate its growing needs while upgrading the office workspace.
“If we want the employees to be engaged, we need the workspace to be engaging,” Helminski said.
Sargent & Lundy announced the lease agreement for 380,000 square feet of space along the Chicago riverfront in December, marking one of the largest commercial real estate commitments in downtown Chicago in years. The firm leases 282,000 square feet of space at its current 55 E. Monroe location where it has been based for the past 50 years.
The company plans to begin moving into its new headquarters this year and fully occupy the space by July 2027, continuing its 135-year legacy in the Chicago Loop. Its original offices were in the Rookery Building, less than a mile from its new location.
This is not the first time the company has been mentioned in the Tribune. Most recently, it was ranked as the fourth best Top Workplace among the city’s largest employers, and it has been on the list for the past 10 consecutive years. The firm is seeking to fill 300 positions in Chicago and over 1,000 positions companywide.
