Against the backdrop of changing government policies and a shifting technological landscape in artificial intelligence, a team of Sargent & Lundy decarbonization and renewable energy professionals will share insights in meeting future power demands with thousands of industry leaders at next week’s POWERGEN International conference in Dallas.
The three-day conference is one of the largest of its kind, bringing together professionals from across the power and energy industry with a strong focus on the transition to more sustainable energy sources. More than 200 industry experts, including six from Sargent & Lundy, will deliver technical presentations and hold workshops covering the latest trends and advancements in meeting the increasing demand for energy.
Sargent & Lundy’s Danielle Flagg is once again serving as the committee chair for the Carbon Capture and Emission Controls track of the conference and will moderate a panel on “The Next Generation of Carbon Capture.” The panel will focus on innovations in post-combustion carbon capture technologies currently in development.
Sargent & Lundy’s delegation will also deliver presentations on the following topics:
- Patrick Daou will discuss “Key Considerations for Carbon Capture Project Financing,” outlining the due diligence process for assessing the feasibility, risk, and potential impact of carbon capture projects for potential investors.
- In a presentation on “Lessons Learned from Carbon Capture Pilot Projects,” Kevin Lauzze will review valuable takeaways from innovative projects and considerations that should be made for flexible designs, scale-up, sizing and sourcing equipment, and the potential pitfalls in developing realistic budgets.
- Eric DeCristofaro and Jake Silhavy will share insights related to extending the operating lives of wind and solar projects in “Key Considerations for Wind and Solar Repowering.” The presentation will examine important factors for repowering wind turbines and solar PV projects and the challenges involved in each.
- Elizabeth Berg will present “Process Hazard Analysis for Hydrogen Projects,” exploring best practices adopted from the chemical process industry and how they can enhance safety and mitigate risk in hydrogen applications.
