Sargent & Lundy ranked in the top third of Engineering News-Record’s prestigious lists of global and international design firms as its portfolio of energy and power projects outside the United States continues to grow.

The firm placed 49th among ENR’s Top 150 Global Design Firms and 73rd in the publication’s Top 225 International Design Firms. The Top 150 ranks firms based on total domestic and international revenue, whereas the Top 225 is based on revenue generated from projects outside the firm’s home country.

Sargent & Lundy is currently performing design, technical assessments, and siting studies for both small modular reactors and large-scale nuclear projects in Canada, Romania, Poland, and throughout Eastern Europe. The firm is serving the U.S. Department of State as part of the Foundational Infrastructure for Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology – FIRST – program to help partner countries meet their energy needs safely and responsibly.

Through the firm’s joint venture with India-based engineering conglomerate Larsen & Toubro, L&T-Sargent & Lundy Limited, it supports nearly 10 gigawatts of conventional combustion turbine projects across the Middle East and Africa. In Brazil’s Amazon basin, Sargent & Lundy is also providing engineering and construction oversight for a large-scale, advanced-class power plant to provide power in a remote region.

Sargent & Lundy has offices in Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates, where it recently opened a second office. The firm has a long history of international projects dating back to the 1919 completion of the Tocopilla Power Station in Chile.

Earlier this year, Sargent & Lundy ranked 23rd among ENR’s signature Top 500 Design Firms list. The firm secured the No. 14 spot on the magazine’s Top 100 Pure Designers list and made an impressive showing at No. 23 on the Top 50 in International Markets list. Among the Top Professional Services Firms, it placed 36th among the Top 50 Program Management firms.
