For the second consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report named Sargent & Lundy to its prestigious list of Best Companies to Work For, further solidifying the firm’s reputation as a top employer.

The magazine, renowned for ranking the nation’s best colleges, high schools, hospitals, banks, and other consumer goods and services, also recognized Sargent & Lundy in the industry-specific awards as one of the Best Companies to Work For:  Engineering and Construction. The firm placed among U.S. News’ 199 best private companies to work for overall, and the best 21 private companies in engineering and construction. The company was one of 14 private engineering and construction firms to also be recognized for “Top Quality of Pay.”

“As an engineering firm, we continuously improve all our processes, and that includes continuous improvements in our benefits, policies, and response to employee feedback,” said Sargent & Lundy Chairman, President, and CEO Victor Suchodolski. “This recognition confirms what we already know – Sargent & Lundy is a great place to work because our people make it a great workplace.”

U.S. News & World Report assesses more than 1,500 companies for its annual list, evaluating them on six criteria:

  • Quality of pay and benefits
  • Work/life balance and flexibility
  • Job and company stability
  • Physical and psychological comfort (safety)
  • Belongingness and esteem
  • Career opportunities and professional development

The magazine scores companies on a scale of one through five for each factor. Sargent & Lundy achieved the top score in five of the six categories, including quality of pay and benefits, which the magazine places the highest priority in its “employee hierarchy of needs.” Based on data on employees’ sentiment and comparisons with competitors, U.S. News confers fewer than 15% of private engineering and construction firms with its “Top Quality of Pay” recognition. U.S. News bases its evaluations on publicly available employee opinions on platforms such as Glassdoor and LinkedIn; company websites; and court records and other government filings.

The recognition follows awards earlier this year from Top Workplaces, Engineering.com, and Forbes. Sargent & Lundy won all five Top Workplaces Spring Culture Excellence Awards for the second consecutive year. The awards recognize companies that receive high marks for compensation and benefits, innovation, leadership, purpose and values, and work-life flexibility. This is on top of earning recognition last fall for employee appreciation, employee well-being, and professional development.

In March, the firm was named a Top Workplace for Engineers by Engineering.com, and Suchodolski earned Top Workplaces USA’s inaugural Leadership Award based on the support of nearly 90% of employees who said they have confidence in the company’s leadership. Forbes named the firm one of America’s Best Midsize Employers for 2025 in February.
