Sargent & Lundy Donates to Engineering Student Chapters at University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez

Funds to benefit student members of IEEE’s Power Engineering Society and Women in Engineering UPRM chapters

July 18, 2023 – Sargent & Lundy has donated $4,000 to the Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers' Power Engineering Society and Women in Engineering student chapters at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez. Each group received $2,000 respectively to support their chapters’ missions, activities, and work plans for 2023. The donations will also help the chapters continue providing valuable opportunities for students to learn, grow, and network with industry professionals.

The PES student chapter helps students complete basic electrical engineering courses and discover their interests in the field. The WEI student chapter is dedicated to encouraging and inspiring women pursuing STEM-related careers.

Sargent & Lundy is committed to making an impact in the communities where we work and live, including by serving, educating, and funding worthy causes like supporting the next generation of engineers and scientists, which this donation achieves. Our presence in Puerto Rico includes offices in San Juan and Mayagüez staffed by 170 local personnel, including UPRM interns and over 65 UPRM graduates. Many of these employees proudly support their alma mater by volunteering their time, mentorship, and industry experience to motivate the students of the PES and WIE chapters as they achieve their educational and career goals.
