Kuldip Mohanty Joins Sargent & Lundy as Chief Technology Officer

Newly created position will enhance technical capabilities to benefit clients and employees


June 27, 2024 – Kuldip Mohanty has joined Sargent & Lundy as chief technology officer, bringing 30 years of systems and technical insights to the rapidly growing firm as it takes on the power and energy challenges of the future. As one of the world’s longest-standing full-service architect engineering firms, Sargent & Lundy is working with clients and partners to meet increasing energy demands for emerging technologies while leading decarbonization efforts to address community and global goals.

Mohanty takes on the newly created position amid significant growth at the firm, and he will leverage growing technical capabilities to advance project delivery and enhance the experience of Sargent & Lundy’s nearly 3,500 employee global workforce. Mohanty is also tasked with developing and expanding the use of technology to support business growth as the firm continues to lead in power and energy with expertise in grid modernization, renewable energy, energy storage, nuclear power, and fossil fuels.

Mohanty brings 30 years of technology and information systems experience, and he has held executive leadership positions with large, global insurance and financial services firms. He most recently served as chief information officer for the State of North Dakota, earning praise from the state’s governor for his leadership and focus on customer service.

Serving as a member of the North Dakota governor’s cabinet, Mohanty led the state’s information technology department, NDIT, where he is credited with modernizing systems, creating policies for the use of artificial intelligence, and developing the business gateway to streamline processes and simplify the end-user experience. In the private sector, Mohanty most recently served as CIO for Chicago-based HUB International Limited, the world’s fifth-largest global insurance brokerage.

Mohanty holds a master’s degree in computer applications from Jorhat Engineering College in Assam, India, and a master’s in business administration from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. He serves on the board of the Executive Service Corps of Chicago, providing consulting and executive coaching services for nonprofit organizations.
