Project Team Management
Along with our broad range of in-house resources, we have an extensive network of specialty firms that we partner with to fulfill the complete scope of project services. We administer and coordinate surveyors, environmental consultants, land acquisition services, geotechnical firms and others under a single contract to the client.
Project Planning and Budgeting
We work with project owners to develop comprehensive plans for each project. The sequence of tasks is evaluated, incorporating our in-depth knowledge of utility capital projects. Permitting requirements, public and property owner issues, engineering challenges, supply chain considerations, construction complexities, and outage constraints are all incorporated in this process.
In conjunction with the schedule development, the resources and associated costs for each activity are estimated. Applying our extensive database of material and equipment costs and labor requirements and rates, budget estimates are developed and then monitored and updated at each stage of the work.
Procurement Services
In conjunction with the preparation of technical specifications for all transmission line and substation material, equipment, and construction activities, we perform a complete range of procurement support services. We serve as the owner’s agent in soliciting and evaluating bids in compliance with project specific and owner-specified requirements, writing purchase orders and conformed specifications, and administering contracts. We then follow through with vendor surveillance monitoring for quality assurance and schedule performance.
Contract and Construction Management
Once construction contracts are awarded, Sargent & Lundy administers the work for compliance with the specifications and other contract stipulations, as well as tracking costs and schedules. Our personnel have significant experience in all phases of installation for transmission line and substation projects. By anticipating problems, our team works with the contractors to keep projects on track
Commissioning
We work closely with the owner to fully develop a plan for sequencing outages to allow each stage of the project to proceed with the minimum disruptions to existing facilities. Detailed plans are prepared to verify that each component and system operates as planned.
