Case Studies Presented at Power-Gen International
December 14, 2009 - Sargent & Lundy authors presented case studies on three recent projects at the Power-Gen International Conference December 8 - 10 in Orlando. The presentations:

Best Paper Award: From the conference, the Xcel Energy Riverside Repowering Project paper was the winner of the 2009 Best Paper award for the Gas Turbine Technologies Track.
Combined-Cycle Repowering Project Named 2009 Pacesetter Plant
September 1, 2009- The Arvah B Hopkins Generating Station Unit 2 Repowering project by the City of Tallahassee was recognized by Combined Cycle Journal with a 2009 Pacesetter Plant Award. The repowering added generating capacity to this 30-year-old station, switched the primary fuel from oil to gas, and reduced fuel costs and emissions. The Sargent & Lundy project team served as the City's design engineer, providing preliminary and detailed engineering and support for the project's permit application, BOP procurement, and construction including start-up and commissioning services. Coal-Fired Power Experts Offer Insight at Coal-Gen 2009
August 10, 2009 - Sargent & Lundy coal-fired power plant experts will be participating in the Coal-Gen 2009 conference August 19-21 in Charlotte, N.C. The presentations will offer attendees insight into effective approaches to retrofitting SCR systems into extremely congested site conditions, the detailed assessment criteria used in selecting an FGD system for greenfield coal-fired, and testing of mercury reduction with concrete-friendly carbons. Transmission Agency of Northern California (TANC) Selects Sargent & Lundy as Project Engineer for Transmission Infrastructure Expansion
March 2, 2009 - The Transmission Agency of Northern California (TANC) has selected Sargent & Lundy as the engineer for their planned TANC Transmission Program (TTP). This program will enhance the reliability and power delivery capability of the Northern California transmission grid and provide increased access to local California-based renewable energy resources through a system of 230-kV and 500-kV transmission lines and substations. PPL Electric Utilities Awards Transmission Line Engineering to Sargent & Lundy for the Susquehanna-Roseland Project
February 10, 2009 - Sargent & Lundy has signed a contract with PPL Electric Utilities to provide transmission line engineering services for the Susquehanna-Roseland Project. The Susquehanna-Roseland power line project will help ensure continued safe and reliable electric service for customers in eastern and northeastern Pennsylvania and throughout the region. Sargent & Lundy Expands Phoenix Office to Support New Work
January 4, 2009 - Sargent & Lundy's Phoenix staff has moved to larger office facilities to better support expanding work in the region. The facility includes seamless electronic interfacing with staff and resources in Sargent & Lundy's Chicago headquarters and a training & teleconferencing center.
